Thanks. I like how it came out, but I still feel that it doesn't quite have the feeling as much as I wanted it too. I originally wanted a more weathered, ancient looking stone material, but I eventually settled for what I was able to achieve here. Just last night I had the idea that maybe it might look even more deadisher (new word) if I added cobwebs draped over it. That would probably be hard to achieve too though.
Thanks. Glad the stone thing worked out. I wasn't sure if I could make it look believable.
I was getting artsy with the "colors". It's actually a lighting trick. The ring is black, but I used primary colored spotlights focused on the ring instead of white ones - the theory being that it would add more vibrancy to simulate white light using primary colors instead of using white light. It's similar to stage lighting in some theaters. I'm not saying it worked out, just that I tried. I was worried that the image would seem too monotone otherwise.
I like the lighting on the inside of the ring it self, that rainbowish look. i\Its just makes the symbol look off, but I this makes me want to pick up a rock and make a real one modeled after your design lol.
